A relaxing afternoon of wine tasting, on June 13, 2010, in a lovely Rockcliffe garden was a perfect way to raise some funds for the Arts Canterbury program. About 30 guests explored wines that are Rising Stars, gaining attention and winning outstanding awards.

They were welcomed with a glass of bubbly, while sommelier and Canterbury Arts Grad, Debbie Trenholm of The Savvy Company, explained the format of the afternoon. Two "flights" of wines were presented with delectable hors d'oeuvres, specially chosen to complement the wines.

The Savvy Company's own chef, Vanessa Simmons,a certified cheese sommelier, presented a unique selection of Canadian artisanal cheeses. Debbie shared stories about the wines, wineries and winemakers.

It was a terrific afternoon during which about $1,200 was raised.
